It serves as a cultural hub for Grand Rapids and hosts workshops, theatrical performances and live music.
This year, Wealthy Theatre is hosting a Valentine’s Day weekend event that features some of Grand Rapid’s most talented dancers, musicians and filmmakers, as well as dancers and musicians spanning from Detroit to Minneapolis. Among the performers are nationally renowned artists Kristi Faulkner and Nic Lincoln.
2. The Murder Mystery Company – Totally 80’s, Totally Murder
Sharpen your sleuthing skills and bring some mystery to your Valentine’s Day with the Grand Rapids Murder Mystery Company. This immersive mystery dinner theater show includes a three-course meal and two hours of Clue-style fun. This year’s Valentine’s Day show is Totally 80’s, Totally Murder, providing an evening of excitement and 80’s-inspired fun.
3. Meijer Gardens
Featuring famous sculptures and indoor and outdoor horticultural landscapes, the Meijer Gardens is a beautifully romantic destination for your Valentine’s Day weekend. With a five-story, 15,000 square foot indoor facility that includes waterfalls, rock landscapes, exotic trees and tropical plants from all over the world, the Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory provides the perfect escape from chilly temperatures. Arrive early enough to enjoy lunch at the Taste of the Gardens Café, and then explore the gardens through a guided or self-guided tour.
4. Ice skating at Rosa Parks Circle
Enjoy Valentine’s Day on the ice at the Rosa Parks Circle Ice Rink. Serving as West Michigan’s first refrigerated outdoor skating rink, the 13,000 square foot Rosa Parks Circle is designed by world-renown artist and architect Maya Lin and showcases water in its three forms. It features beautiful ambience provided by 166 fiber-optic lights, trees, two reflective pools and a statue of the artist herself.
Grand Rapids is widely known for its vibrant art scene, and its local talent will be elegantly showcased throughout Downtown Grand Rapids on Valentine’s Day weekend. Visitors will have the opportunity to see more than 25 ice sculptures throughout the district. On Saturday, the public will be able to enjoy several activities, including a live ice carving, and on Sunday evening, a photographer will be available to take pictures of couples with the ice sculptures.
6. Grand Rapids Bar Crawl
This year for Valentine’s Day, GRBC will be providing a special night out that includes a romantic dinner at Bar Divani, a comedy show at Dr. Grins, drinks and dancing. The crawl will take place on the GRBC limo-style bus, and it is sure to be a fun, romance-filled evening.
