Grand Rapids Bar Crawl
Established in 2007, the Grand Rapids Bar Crawl has been a community favorite for holidays, birthdays and other special occasions. This year, the GRBC will be hosting a St. Patrick’s Day crawl on March 12 from 7 p.m. until 1 a.m. The GRBC party bus will be leaving Rezervoir Lounge. From there, it will be traveling around to five different establishments, some that are well-known and some that are probably a little more unfamiliar. While the stops will not be disclosed until the bus is on its way to them, it’s sure to be an evening of fun and excitement. Participants are encouraged to bring a small cooler and, of course, dress as festively as they’d like.
What’s a holiday without a great festival? How about Michigan’s largest St. Patrick’s Day street festival? This year, BarFly Ventures will host the sixth annual Irish on Ionia St. Patrick’s Day street party on Saturday, March 19. This 21 and up event will feature plenty of beer, games, Irish food and more. It will take place on Ionia Street in downtown Grand Rapids and will stretch from Oakes to Fulton and Weston to Commerce. It kicks off at 7 a.m. with a breakfast buffet and an abundance of Irish food. Partygoers will enjoy live music from several DJs and bands such as Moxie Strings, Disco Brunch, The Saltbound and more. There will also be an Irish jig stage that will feature the talents of groups like The Waxies and the Ardan Academy of Irish Dance. There are several ticket options available with prices ranging from $15-$60. This year, more than 17,000 participants are expected, and tickets will be going on sale in late February.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade
If you’re looking for something a little more family-friendly, you won’t want to miss the city’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 14. The event, which will be hosted by the Irish Cultural Committee, LLC, will take place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. In the past, the parade has featured dozens of groups, marching bands, fire trucks, snow plows and an ambulance. The parade route begins at Monroe Street and continues down Monroe Center, Division and then ends on Library.
